Edara Playtest

I ran my first official Edara Alpha Playtest last night and I have to say, it was simply a blast! The mission had Crimson Company infiltrating a hospital owned and operated by rival Dust Company! No one consider how difficult it might be to sneak an 8 foot plus Ogre into a hospital! But the mission played out without much of a hitch!

The Red Band Precision fighter used his skills to the maximum to get 2 one hit kills! A pistol shot through the head and a skewer with his rapier!

The White Band Protection paladin stood stoically in the middle of combat, drawing people in and resisting their attacks while doling out some pretty impressive healing numbers!

The Black Band Treachery assassin took a different route by stealthily climbing onto the rooftops and performing a successful assassination on the guard above him!

The Blue Band Mindcraft wizard played the con artist and let herself be captured, only to trick her captive into letting her go free deep within the hospital.

And what can you say about the Green Band Beast berserker who tried to enter through the back door, found it locked, and pulled the door off of its hinges! Then he and his bear proceeded to shred a few attacking forces.

All in all it was a satisfying playthrough! Look here for more updates and let us know in the comments if you would like to be a future playtester!

Alpha Phase!

Now that we have the book 90% complete, we are entering the next set of Alpha Testing! Keep an eye on this blog to get updates on play testing locations, which will hopefully be happening at hobby shops across Indianapolis.

I'd also like to use this opportunity to direct you to BeniBeniGG on DeviantArt who will be doing artwork for our game! Take a look at the work he's done in the past, its pretty impressive!

Rules Are Complete!

Ironing out all of the rules for Edara: A Steampunk Renaissance has taken about two months longer than we originally intended! The original Adventuring Chapter was actually split into two big chapters: Adventuring and Running a Game.

Splitting things up in this fashion allows us to have a chapter completely focused on what players need to know, and a chapter completely focused on what the GM will need to know.

Here is a sample of one of my favorite additions to the Adventuring chapter: The Bear Mount

Bear
The bear is a very hard animal to control but its advantages may outweigh its penalties. The bear has the special ability to attack and maul your opponents.
Average Cost: 2500 Currency
Movement Speed: 50 Feet
Health Pips: 20
Control Vehicle (Riding)
Base Number: 18
Handling Modifier: +3
Special: During your turn, your Bear mount can Maul your opponent, using 2 of your own AP. This does not count as using your attack. Maul is a 3(S) 5(C) attack.

Hunting

We are pleased to introduce a brand new skill into the Edara Core Rulebook: Hunting.

Hunting, which is a Wits-Relevant skill, is used to track down your prey. It contains the specializations Information Gathering, Tracking, and Manhunting.

Information Gathering; Use your keen detection skills to absorb every detail and listen in to every conversation in order to piece together missing information.

Tracking: Stalk your prey through wilderness environments with deadly skill. Catch them unawares for a surprise attack.

Manhunting: Whatever seedy tavern or brothel that your target calls a hideout will not be enough to keep them safe. Using an incredible amount of wits, deduce patterns and track down your enemies in crowded urban environments.

This brings Edara's skill total up to 19 skills, with over 50 unique specializations!

Looking for Art

Finding artists willing to participate in any project is very difficult. First they have to be willing to put in the time to get familiar with the style of the universe, then take the time to draw and color it, and then post it in hopes its liked well enough to be included and purchased. Art is a lot of work. So, from an artists perspective, what is a good incentive to show off artwork in hopes it would get chosen for publication?

Also, I've always wondered this, if you commission artwork for a project and the artwork is not what you expected it to turn out like, or it does not fit with the universe or the art style you're looking for, how acceptable is it to ask for them to do it over? I've never encountered this but often wondered what you would do in that situation. Probably the number one reason I haven't commissioned tons of artwork just to get started. I'd like to see it before I pay for it.

Social Media!

Edara now has a Deviantart Project Page and a Facebook Page

So go check those out! Twitter and other such media outlets will follow in the future...

Edara Logo Competition!

Edara is in serious need of an updated logo! Our stock logo can only get us so far. Therefore we are holding a design competition for an Edara logo! The logo should capture the Steampunk flavor of the world that Edara inhabits. If you are talented enough to somehow work in more detail about the world or the bands, that will increase your chances of winning.

The winner's logo will be used on this blog, throughout the Edara: A Steampunk Renaissance Core Rulebook, and appear on the character sheet as well as all promotional materials. Not only will this look great in your portfolio and on your resume, you will also be compensated for your design!

Those who design the best logos may even be commissioned to do further artwork for the Edara Project.

Thank You!

Submission Guidelines:
Submit your artwork as a .jpg file to EdaraTheGame@gmail.com. Winners will be contacted and announced within a week of the competition's end.

Welcome!

Welcome to the World of Edara! The blog is now up in lieu of our official website, which will be coming down the line! Editing is almost finished on the Edara: A Steampunk Renaissance Core Rulebook and alpha testing has already begun.

Everyone on the team is very excited to work on this project. Keep an eye on our blog for more information about the game and day-to-day updates!
